2007 Pella Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley, USA

Regular price $85.00

This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with only 90 cases produced annually. It’s aged for two years in French oak. The vineyard, established in 1978, is farmed by the renowned Dave Abreu. The wine itself is crafted by Gargiulo Kristof, whose winemaking style has been described by Karen MacNeil, author of "The Wine Bible," as having "Audrey Hepburn-like grace."

Kevin Vogt, a Master Sommelier whom I respect greatly, has also praised this wine. It’s a rare combination of an exceptional vineyard, a talented winemaker, limited production, and a library release showcasing what a powerful Cabernet can achieve with over a decade of aging.

Plus, 2007 was one of the best vintages of the decade!

This wine was powerful, showing no signs of aging. It needs about two hours to fully open, revealing an intense nose full of coffee, smoke, dark violet, chocolate, rose petals, blackberries, and licorice. The mouthfeel is full-bodied with a long, lingering finish.

P.S. They also have 2003-2006 vintages available. If you’re a wine geek like me, consider doing a vertical tasting. Highly recommend putting a case together for fun!
