2017 M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac, Rhone, France
Regular price $94.99
This wine is crazy-concentrated, full-bodied and rich but boasts incredible floral aromas of roses and violets, ripe cherry and stone fruit flavors and exotic spice notes. This wine has an outstanding density with an impressive length. It has an intense garnet appearance with an almost black hue due to its exceptionally low yields.
From one of the most recognizable, & sizeable wine producers in Rhone valley,
Produced from yields of just 15 hectoliters per hectare, this wine is a powerful, 100% Grenache wine raised in concrete. It's a big, full-bodied beauty, loaded with scents of kirsch and framboise, stuffed with ripe tannins and with a finish that lasts for several minutes.
The Chapoutier's family history dates back to 1808 but it wasn't until 1879 that the family started making and trading wines. Michel Chapoutier took the company reins in 1988 and started to push toward quality which saw the Chapoutier label get international recognition.
