NV Stephane Coquillette Marie Aimer Brut Rose, Champagne, France [LS]
Regular price $69.99
This is made by Stephane Coquillette, Christian Coquillette's son. They've been farming for many years, used to sell their grapes to Pommery, and now making their own unique cuvees. Even though he is mentored by his father, Stephane developed a very different style of expression at his own house, creating leaner, drier Champagnes, primarily from Chouilly (Grand Cru), Cuis (1er Cru 99%) for Chardonnay, and d’Aÿ (Grand Cru) and Mareuil/Aÿ (1er Cru 99%) for Pinot Noir.
Stepahen is meticulously committed to organic practices and avoids herbicides at all costs. Everything is done by hand, including trellising and pruning, which helps avoid disease and allows for a healthy crop
With more than 10 different parcels, he produces several single-vintage and single-vineyard Champagnes—a rarity in this region—and all his wines are small-production including this wine.
Stéphane Coquillette Champagnes are characteristically precise, fresh and lively. As you can see from our tasting video, this Rose is one of a kind, rich, complex, so much going on and is one of those rare Champagne that is delicious on its own, but can also be enjoyed through an entire meal and even hold up to a nice piece of Ribeye!
