It doesn’t get rarer than this (or more delicious).
A Mystical Red with True Power and Finesse
Only the second vintage from Vangone Estate, in the powerful mountainous vineyard of Napa Valley comes a complex, earthy red. Napa Valley now hosts several pioneers in winemaking, so it makes sense that Vangone Estate has been rated no less than 96 points by major critics.
And the story behind this particular vineyard contains a little bit of mystery (and smoke). When an abandoned van full of cannabis appeared at the winery one day and disappeared the very next, it only made sense to name the winery in its honor - and perhaps in tribute.
Vangone is a truly special Cabernet Sauvignon that commands your attention, with only Bordeaux able to rival its quest for glory.
Deep Expressions of Purple
To the eye, this is a dense, purple-black wine in color, with a complex and powerful vanilla aroma to match. It has a mystical quality, like a village Sage brewing a cauldron of tannin goodness for its healing properties.
On the palate, so many words could be used to describe it. Earthy, deep, bold, structured, with hints of mint, dark fruit, cedar, spice box and chocolate, all wrapped up in an inky velvet bow with a medium to long finish. Although you’ll wish it lasted longer.
Pair with beef, lamb or fresh venison if you can get your hands on it.
This is a deep yet silky expression of purple. Amazing today, even better down the line. 3 to 5 years from now and this vintage might just give you superpowers. If you can wait that long.
This is a highly seductive wine. And one that improves with air. I recommend decanting it for at least a few hours to extract its best qualities and bring it to life.
Exclusively at Angie Somm
And when I say exclusive, I always mean it.
Made by famous winemaker Sam Kaplan – the founding winemaker for Memento Mori (one of the big Napa Cult, highly sought after winery) and with only 210 cases of Vangone are circulating, this wine is truly rare and hard to find. Even if you do find it, they are nearly always going to set you back a minimum of $230. But my love for wine and you… well, it always finds a way.
Not only do I have the last few elusive bottles in production, but you can also get your hands on it for $188.88!
But if you’re going to click that Add To Cart button, it’ll need to be fast. A vintage this delicious and rare is never meant to last.
97 Points Robert Parker
"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard south of Pritchard Hill overlooking Oakville Cross Road, aged for 30 months in 100% new French oak. Very deep purple-black in color, it sings of fragrant blackcurrants, wild blueberries and black cherries with touches of Indian spices, menthol, chocolate box and violets plus a touch of smoked meats. The palate is full, rich, concentrated and seductive, with a firm yet velvety structure and seamless freshness, finishing long and spicy."
