Notes from the Winemaker:
Ruby red with garnet reflections and a complex bouquet of raspberries, strawberries and spearmint; the palate expresses an immediate roundness with mellow flavors and texture, which are all balanced by lovely tannins and a pleasant finish.
Vineyard:
One vine yard in the Monforte district, one in Serralunga and another vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. There are about two hectares (nearly five acres) of low Guyot - trained, southeast - facing vines averaging 4,000 - 4,500 per hectare (1,620 - 1,821 per acre); 20 - 30 year old vines planted in clay soil.
Aging: Aged in 225 - liter French barrique for about 24 months, followed by three months in bottle.
94 Points - James Suckling:
"Love the generosity in this wine for this muscular vintage with plenty of fruit to buttress the powerful tannins. Full and chewy yet succulent and fruity. Drink in 2022.
