Notes from the winery -
2014 has been labeled an exceptional vintage that will go down in California winemaking history for near-perfect growing conditions. It also marks Nate Weis' first vintage as Silver Oak winemaker, only our third winemaker in our 47-year history.
Sourced primarily from two estate vineyards in the southeast foothills of Napa Valley, Soda Canyon Ranch and Jump Rock Vineyard, this Bordeaux blend is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.6% Merlot, 6.7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. It was blended in early 2015 and aged for two years in 85% new American oak barrels, infusing subtle and creamy aromatics of vanilla and coconut into the wine. The wine has an opaque crimson color with a purplish hue and an alluring nose of cassis, black cherry, pipe tobacco, salted caramel, cocoa beans and fresh strawberry. Black currant and vanilla notes crescendo through the palate to the lengthy finish. This wine is drinkable upon release but, given proper cellaring conditions, it can be enjoyed through 2040.
