🍇 【About This Wine: 】🍇
In the late 1920s the Sangiacomo family purchased their first parcel in Sonoma—originally planted to fruit trees, then to grapes for winemaking. In 1969 the Sangiacomo’s Green Acres vineyard was planted, in part to the original Old Wente clone of Chardonnay. Saintsbury partnered with the Sangiacomo family in 1981 and for 33 years has made Chardonnay from the Green Acres vineyard. 2013 was the first release of their single-vineyard designate Green Acres Chardonnay.

I have been waiting for an ultra-rich California Chardonnay that bites back in the finish and this one does swimmingly well! This one makes me want to jump onto a tray of raw oysters and eat away. The 2013 Saintsbury Sangiacomo Green Acre Chardonnay is an amazing wine- a world-class Chardonnay that is actually affordable! Brisk and refreshing, yet satisfying and long lasting. Medium straw color; intense green apple and mineral in the nose, plenty of fruit and a hint of oak in the background; dry, excellent acidity, well balanced; long finish, frisky and refined in the aftertaste. (Tasted: May 6, 2015, San Francisco, CA)

A salty lick of saline brings the palate to attention before tingling acidity seals the experience: the wine's backbone a nicely balanced combination of generous oak that supports ripe fruit. Francois Freres and Taransaud barrels cradled the wine for 10 months, only 35% of it new, making for a robust yet elegant expression of the variety from this site.
