Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape region in the Rhône Valley, started in 1880 by Edouard Amouroux.
The estate only produce 3 wines, a white, a red Chateauneuf du Pape, and a limited release cuvée, “Les Choregies du Clos de L’Oratoire des Papes”, produced only in exceptional years. (It was not made in 2011, 2013, 2014, etc)
This wine is made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. The grapes are always destemmed. The wine is aged for 14 months in a combination of demi muids along with new and used, French oak barrels. For the 2016 vintage, only 14586 bottles were made (each individually numbered, see photo).
2016 was a fantastic year pretty much all over France and in Rhone, this wine has gotten 97points from Decanter, 96 points from Wine Enthusiast, and 94 points Vinous.
Comes in 6 bottles OWC and all bottles are individually numbered!
