2015 Domaine Anne Gros Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau, Cote de Nuits, France

Regular price $124.99

This parcel within the village appellation of Chambolle Musigny is situated at the southern limit of the territories of Chambolle and Vosne Romanée in the locality of the Combe d'Orveau. It was bequeathed by Louis Gros on his death in 1951 to his son François.

The origin of the word "Orveau" comes from "Val d'Or" (small golden vale). East facing, this coomb opens onto the anticlinal valley where Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux and Clos de Vougeot are situated.

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2015 Chambolle Musigny la Combe d'Orveaux has a fragrant bouquet with raspberry preserve, wild strawberry and mulberry scents - not the most complex you will come across in Chambolle, but I appreciate the purity of fruit. The palate is well balanced with red cherry and mulberry, gentle and harmonious, an easygoing and self-effacing Chambolle-Musigny that should give drinking pleasure soon after bottling."

91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"(35% new oak; tasted from tank): Palish red. Like a pungent salad of red berries on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Vibrant pomegranate and cranberry flavors are framed by juicy acidity and complicated by a lightly savory quality. The resounding red-fruit finish is lifted by a note of crushed flowers."

90 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Here the expressive nose is at once more elegant and noticeably fresher with aromas of both red and dark currant, violet and a pretty hint of spice. There is good minerality and much better verve to the delicious appealingly textured medium weight flavors that deliver solid length on the reasonably complex finish. This should be approachable young if desired."
