Certan de May ABSOLUTELY over delivers for the 2011 vintage, consistently getting the highest score/praise from the critics across the board
If you haven’t heard of them before, this winery is midway between Petrus and Le Pin, and directly across from Vieux Chateau Certain. These small 5 hectares winery is a connoisseur’s wine. The wine is showing firm structure on the palate with forest floor, some sandalwood, and rich black cherries and black berries. Nice ripe fruit notes with hint of cigar flavors on the finish. It’s packed with earthy aromas mixed with cherry blossom and some cocoa on the finish. The wine is a coming into its drinking window in the next 2 years and will shine in 5 years from now!
Compared to Le Pin at $2500 and Petrus at $3000 per bottle, the Certain de May is a no brainer to stock up on and enjoy! Let me know if you want to get a few for your cellar, I can’t recommend it enough!
94 pts WE Firm and concentrated, this wine has great structure and density along with acidity and berry flavor. There is an attractive final spicy element
